Member cooperatives ride high at Lineman Rodeo

Hoosier Energy member cooperatives once again put their linemen’s talents on display at the Fifth Annual 2026 Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo, held August 20-21 at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville, Indiana.   The nine participating Hoosier Energy members acquitted themselves well, taking home first place in all four overall competitions – Team, Apprentice Lineman, Journeyman Lineman and Senior Journeyman Lineman.   The team events are scored out of 100 points across four events for a total of 400 points with ties broken by the lowest elapsed time of finish. Englert finds his way to line work and a Hoosier Energy scholarship

Sometimes finding the right career takes a little trial and error.   That was certainly the case for Logan Englert, who was named the latest recipient of Hoosier Energy’s Daniel L. Schuckman and W. Eugene Roberts Memorial Scholarship.   Englert graduated from the North American Lineman Training Center in mid-August, capping a long journey to find his calling and marking the beginning of what he hopes is a lifelong career.   “Everybody I talked to really loves (working in the utility industry) and enjoys what they do,” said Englert, who grew up in Dubois REC territory in Ferdinand. “They think of it as a career, not a job.
