A valid hunting license and appropriate stamps are necessary to hunt at the reservoir. Waterfowl hunters must register with the Harvester Information Program (HIP) and the HIP number must be recorded on the license. All other state and federal waterfowl regulations apply.

Hunters must use state approved shot. Upland game hunting is not permitted at the reservoir or on any other Hoosier Energy properties. If wind speeds exceed 30 miles per hour, the reservoir will be closed until conditions improve and security authorizes reopening of the reservoir.

Fishing is allowed on scheduled hunting days until 4 a.m. and resumes at noon. No fishing is allowed between 4 a.m. and noon on those days.

Hoosier Energy, the power supplier to 18 electric cooperatives in Indiana and Illinois, owns the Merom Generating Station and Turtle Creek Reservoir. The 1,550-ace reservoir provides cooling water for the Merom Station.
