The Indiana Electric Cooperatives headquarters in Carmel were the site for the Hoosier Energy Spring 2025 Marketing and Member Services (MMSC) Meeting on February 24.
With 38 people representing 14 of Hoosier Energy’s 17 member cooperatives on hand, it was a chance to learn about and from each other.
That started from the get-go with a session highlighting Best of 2024 Presentations.
A total of 30 presentations – representing all member co-ops – were celebrated in this showcase of insight, creativity and inspiration that drove success over the previous year.
The next session was Communications 101 with Hoosier Energy Director of Strategic Communications Chad Mertz. He emphasized communication as the foundation of success and highlighted some essential skills to confident and clear communication.
The first two afternoon sessions were led by Hirons, a marketing and communications agency in Indianapolis.
They started with an in-depth update on the Member Education and Engagement Program, including results from the fall campaign and the digital strategies being used to target member-consumers as well as plans for the future.
Hirons concluded with a session on Social Media Best Practices. It included learning how to create engaging content, how to target a specific audience and how to optimize ad performance across various platforms.
The co-ops took the reins next to discuss how to have an effective rebate program. A panel discussion from Brian Omerso (Clark County REMC), Nick Geswein (Harrison REMC), Autumn Kolbinsky (Southeastern Indiana REMC) and Haley Jansen (South Central Indiana REMC) shared how they have been successful in retaining and recruiting participation from member-consumers.
The final session of the day focused on Continuous Improvement. Megan Miller, Hoosier Energy’s Continuous Improvement and Employee Experience Manager, gave an overview of the idea and presented some practice ideas of how to incorporate it into their cooperatives.
