Hoosier Energy, GDS Associates offer expert assistance to determine eligibility, qualifying projects for farms and small businesses

Bloomington IN – In an effort to provide technical support to agricultural producers and rural small businesses applying to the USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), Hoosier Energy along with GDS Associates continue to assist applicants in that process. Eligible entities pursuing energy projects planning to use underutilized technologies, seeking grants under $20,000, or are in distressed or disadvantaged areas and seeking projects of any scope, should contact Hoosier Energy.

The effort began in Indiana and has now expanded into southeastern Illinois, covering the service territories of Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative.

Small businesses or farms that are part of a qualifying community, could be eligible for the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program, Technical Assistance Grant (REAP TAG). Hoosier Energy & GDS Associates’ assistance to determine eligibility for qualifying projects will be at no cost to the applicant. Although not based on utility providers, Hoosier Energy will focus application efforts on member-system territories.

Hoosier Energy’s Manager of Member Solutions, Blake Kleaving, said: “The REAP TAG funding is a great opportunity for small businesses and ag producers to receive expert assistance if interested in energy efficiency or renewable projects within their operations. With the program now expanding its efforts, our technical assistance grant makes accessing these funds easier and simpler for consumers, not just in Indiana, but in southeastern Illinois as well.”
